Partouche Poker Million

Partouche Poker Million kicks off at the Casino Gran Madrid.

On Thursday 25th February 2010, at the Casino Gran Madrid in Torrelodones, 58 players took part in Partouche Poker Million Spain's first ever satellite.

Don't forget that this was a qualifying satellite for the Main Event, due to take place in the same casino from 28th July to 1st August 2010 with a buy in of 3,000+300€ and an estimated prize pool of 1,000,000€.

The Casino Gran Madrid will host 5 satellites with a buy-in of 320€+30€+50€ knock out. The tournament structure offers a buy-in of 6,000 chips with the blinds increasing every 30 minutes. It was the original structure that encouraged players like Fernando to make the journey from Paris to Madrid to spend his weekend trying to win a ticket for the final. The traditional shuffle up and deal was called at about 8.30pm, by which point 48 players were ready to play. 10 of these were extra players who were able to join in late, thanks to the tournament's two and a half hour late arrivals rule. 5 tickets for the final were officially awarded on the night, as well as 5 satellite tickets, giving those players who just missed out the chance to try their luck again in a different satellite.

Although the structure allowed players to relax, it wasn't long before things got serious. Just 10 minutes after the tournament had got under way, we had our first knock out. The knock out isn't there for nothing, awarding players 50€ every time they knock out another player. By 11pm there were just 30 players remaining, 20 by midnight and by 1am the pace of the game had slowed down considerably, with 13 players left in the game at this point. By 3am we knew the 10 players who were not going home empty-handed and an hour later we finally had the names of the first 5 players to qualify for the final.
